Frommer's Review
Located in a row of Georgian houses, each built in the 1790s, this hotel is easily recognizable by its gold-tipped iron/board fence railings. The flower boxes outside preview the warmth and hospitality inside. The family management does all the work themselves, and they have such a devoted following that it's hard to get a reservation in summer. Several rooms, each individually designed, overlook the British Museum. Even if things are a bit cramped and the stairs are rather steep, the rooms are pleasant and the atmosphere congenial. The carpeted bedrooms have big beds (by British standards), dressing tables with mirrors, ample wardrobe space, and batik bedspreads. Eleven of the rooms have air-conditioning. The suites are worth the extra money if you can afford it. They all have kitchenettes and spacious bathrooms equipped with showers. The suites are furnished tastefully with polished dark English pieces, framed English prints, and decorator fabrics, and they also have irons and ironing boards.
