Frommer's Review
This award-winning small hotel is an excellent choice near Victoria Station. The Windermere was built in 1857 as a pair of private dwellings on the old Abbot's Lane linking Westminster Abbey to its abbot's residence -- all the kings of medieval England trod here. A fine example of early Victorian classical design, the hotel has lots of English character. All rooms contain a private bathroom -- some with shower, others with tub baths -- and come in a wide range of sizes, some accommodating three or four lodgers. The ground-floor rooms facing the street tend to be noisy at night, so avoid them if you're a light sleeper.
