Frommer's Review
Actress Anouska Hempel's opulent and highly individual creation is one of London's best small hotels. No expense was spared in converting this former row of Victorian town houses into one of the city's most original places to stay. It offers an Arabian Nights atmosphere down in old Kensington: The richly appointed lobby boasts British Raj-era furniture from India, and individually decorated, elaborately appointed rooms contain such treasures and touches as Venetian glassware, cloth-covered walls, swagged draperies, and even Empress Josephine's daybed. Live out your fantasy: Choose an ancient Egyptian funeral barge or a 16th-century Venetian boudoir. Rooms in the older section have the least space and aren't air-conditioned but are chic nevertheless. Beds are deluxe, and the marble bathrooms are richly outfitted with a tub/shower combination and robes.
