A small hotel near Hyde Park, and a favorite of bargain hunters, this welcoming, well-run B&B is the domain of Jenny and Steve Adams. The black-and-white town house is easily recognizable: Just look for its colonnaded front entrance with a wrought-iron/board balustrade stretching across the second floor. Scorning the modern, the Adamses opt for traditional charm and character. They call their breakfast room "homely" (Americans might say "homey") -- it's decorated with photos of the family and a collection of china. Bedrooms are attractive and comfortably furnished, with hot and cold running water and intercoms. Bathrooms are small but tidy, and some have showers and tubs. Those who share the corridor bathrooms will find them clean and well maintained. The home-cooked breakfast is plenty of fortification for a full day of sightseeing.
