Frommer's Review
Ian Schrager, the king of New York hip, has brought Tenth Avenue in Manhattan to London. For his latest London hotel, Schrager secured the help of talented partners Philippe Starck and Andra Andrei to create an "ethereal, transparent urban spa," in which walls are replaced by glass and sheer layers of curtains. The hotel, located in a former corporate building near Oxford Street, north of Soho, comes with a lush bamboo-filled roof garden, a large courtyard, and a spa. That's not all -- Alain Ducasse, arguably the world's greatest chef, directs its restaurant. The accommodations are cutting edge. Although the transformation of this building into a hotel has been remarkable, the dreary grid facade of aluminum squares and glass remains. Your bed is likely to be an Italian silver-leaf sleigh attended by spidery polished stainless-steel night tables and draped with a fringed pashmina shawl.

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
