Frommer's Review
That once-fading 1812 beauty has experienced a rebirth, and its staid image has changed. Dynasty diva Joan Collins may have staged her most recent marriage here, but now Kate Moss is spotted in the hip bar, Elizabeth Hurley strolls through the lobby, and Gordon Ramsay -- Britain's most talked-about and controversial chef (and also the best) -- is loud-mouthing it in the kitchen.
If you want to live in the total lap of luxury, at an even tonier address than the Connaught and the Dorchester, make it Claridge's. Much of the Art Deco style of the 1930s remains, although there are other distinctive styles as well, ranging from modern to neoclassical. The hotel's strong sense of tradition and old-fashioned "Britishness" are also intact, in spite of the gloss and the hip clientele. Afternoon tea at Claridge's remains a quintessentially English tradition. The accommodations here are the most diverse in London, ranging from the costly and stunning Brook Penthouse -- complete with a personal butler -- to the less expensive, so-called superior queen rooms with queen-size beds.
Facilities:
3 restaurants; 2 bars; babysitting; concierge; health club & spa; room service

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
