Frommer's Review
Many guests to London today prefer to stay in a hotel on the emerging South Bank, near many sightseeing and cultural attractions. If you're among them, you can't do much better than lodging at this independently owned, government-rated four-star hotel. A former telephone exchange building, this 1915 structure was successfully recycled into a bastion of comfort and charm. Bedrooms are completely up-to-date and offer homelike comfort and plenty of amenities. Rooms in the front have double glazing on windows to cut down on noise. The best luxuries are found on the executive floor, in the deluxe rooms, and in the executive kings and suites. Dining and drinking facilities are first class, including a new restaurant, Georgetown, which evokes colonial days with a mixture of Malaysian, Chinese, and Indian flavors. A state-of-the-art gymnasium is in an adjacent building with direct access from the hotel.
