Frommer's Review
Next door to Tate Britain and Parliament, this purpose-built inn with a vast array of rooms is at the nexus of elite London. The River Thames and London Eye are within a short walk. The lobby is graced with stone floors, oak walls, and leather chairs, and the on-site restaurant specializes in game and salmon, as befits the hotel's Scottish ownership. The best accommodations are the 67 City Club rooms or the 16 suites, but all units are comfortable with a fresh, light, and contemporary design. Business clients predominate during the week, but on weekends rates are often slashed to bargain prices. Ask about this when booking. Try, if possible, for a guest room opening onto the Thames or else views of Parliament. Rooms are soundproof with 18 inches of concrete between each unit. Bathrooms are small but with power showers. You can drink and dine in the City Café restaurant and bar with its al fresco terrace, and the stylish Millbank Lounge bar is a popular rendezvous point at night.
