Frommer's Review
Three of the most acoustically perfect concert halls in the world were erected in this complex between 1951 and 1964: the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, and the Purcell Room. Together, the halls present more than 1,200 performances a year, including classical music, ballet, jazz, popular music, and contemporary dance. Also here is the internationally renowned Hayward Gallery.
Royal Festival Hall, which usually opens daily at 10am, offers an extensive array of things to see and do, including free exhibitions in the foyers and occasional free lunchtime music at 12:30pm. On Fridays, there is a free Commuter Jazz performance in the foyer from 5:15 to 6:45pm. The Poetry Library is open Tuesday to Sunday 11am to 8pm, and shops display a selection of books, records, and crafts. Food and drink are also served at various venues. The box office is open daily from 9am to 8pm.
