Frommer's Review
Devotees rank this resort right up there with the Marbella Club, but we'll give it the runner-up prize. This hotel was originally built as a cluster of vacation apartments, which influenced the attention to detail and the surrounding landscaping. In the early 1970s, a group of entrepreneurs transformed it into one of the most unusual hotels in the south of Spain. Although it sits close to the frenetic coastal highway midway between Marbella and Puerto Banús, and some critics have dismissed it as "more flash than class," it still enjoys a loyal following. Inside the complex, arbor-covered walkways pass cascading water, masses of vines, and a subtropical garden. The spacious Andalusian-Mediterranean-style accommodations have semisheltered balconies. Bathrooms have tub/shower combos.
Facilities: 3 restaurants; 2 bars; 3 outdoor pools; 10 tennis courts; golf nearby; health club; sauna; steam room; watersports equipment; car-rental desk; secretarial services; room service; in-room massage; babysitting; laundry; dry-cleaning service; rooms for those w/limited mobility

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
