Frommer's Review
This spot, at the bottom of Breakneck Stairs and perched just overlooking the pedestrian-only rue du Petit-Champlain, sits where the streets are awash with day-packers and shutterbugs. It serves what many consider to be the best seafood in town, chosen by a finicky owner who makes his selections personally at the market. The result of daily fish deliveries is a menu that changes often, so look closely at the long list of specials posted on chalkboards. A more pleasant hour cannot be passed anywhere in Québec City than here, over a platter of shrimp or pâtés, out on the terrace on a summer afternoon. In winter, on the other hand, cocoon by the stone fireplace inside, indulging in the dense bouillabaisse -- a stew of mussels, scallops, tuna, tilapia, and shrimp, with a boat of saffron mayo to slather on croutons. Try a Québec wine to wash it down, maybe the l'Orpailleur from Dunham. The inside rooms are formed of rafters, brick, and stone walls that are over 300 years old, evoking the feel of a small country inn.
