Frommer's Review
Of all the unlikely places to expect a decent meal, let alone one that surpasses most of what can be found at more conventional local restaurants, this takes the laurels. Waitstaff are clad in all-black (women in sleeveless halter tops even when temperatures are arctic outside), African carvings adorn the walls, thumping music sets the pace, and conga drummers circulate nightly, beating out rapid, insistent rhythms -- a tremendous distraction. It is all loud, young, and casual. The menu is divided into three categories: "Air," "Water," and "Land," with features such as a filet mignon from Québec's Charlevoix region grilled with mushrooms and asparagus and a plate featuring shrimps, scallops, and Chinese ravioli stuffed with seafood. If you're interested, the cover charge for the disco upstairs is waived with proof that you ate at VooDoo. There's also an attached cigar lounge, the Société Cigare, with 200 offerings.
