Superior on virtually every count to the other mid-rise contemporary hotels outside the old town, this Hilton is entirely true to the breed, the clear choice for executives and those leisure travelers who can't bear to live without their gadgets. The location -- across the street from the city walls and near the Parliament -- is excellent. Public rooms are big and brassy, Hilton-style, while guest rooms are tasteful in light blues and mustard golds. It helps if you like mirrors, because in some units they make up entire walls in the bathroom, along the closet doors, and above the minibar. Ask for an upper-floor room on the side facing the St. Lawrence River and Old Québec, and see the sunrise over the Citadelle. The busy boulevard René-Lévesque outside provides a steady hum of cars but is not overly distracting. Nonguests can come for a Sunday brunch that includes free admission to the heated outdoor pool. The hotel is connected to the Place Québec shopping complex.
