From outside, the skyscraper that houses this hotel is something of a visual insult to the skyline, rising from a neighborhood of late-Victorian town houses. But its height means that it offers spectacular views of the river and the old city, even from the lower floors. L'Astral, a revolving rooftop restaurant with a bar and live piano music on weekends, has better food than usually can be expected of such sky-high venues. Standard rooms have marble bathrooms, plush robes, and three phone lines. Of all the hotels listed here, this is the farthest from Vieux-Québec, about a 10-minute walk to the walls and then another 10 minutes to the center of the Haute-Ville.
