Frommer's Review
Anchoring the east end of the action-filled Grande-Allée, this property has perked up considerably from the dowdy old-timer it used to be. A new saltwater pool and Finnish sauna opened in 2007, with a spa, health center, and landscaped garden to follow. There are now nine categories of rooms and suites, thanks to nearly continual expansion in recent years. Some have working fireplaces, whirlpools, and king-size beds; all enjoy the comforts and doodads of a first-class hotel. The new rooms are clearly more desirable than those in the plainer and more cramped original wing, with good-size desks and leather sitting chairs with reading lamps. Many rooms on the higher floors have views of the Citadelle and St. Lawrence River. At press time, the restaurant was closed for renovations but expected to open again by 2008. The hotel is 2 blocks west of the fortress wall and St-Louis Gate.
