By sidestepping the conventional template of the parent chain, this fresh entry makes a substantial contribution to the ongoing enhancement of Place d'Youville as a day-and-night gathering place for visitors and natives alike. A handsome building from the 1930s was converted into Marriott's first hotel in Québec City. The lobby impresses with a balustraded second floor above a fireplace flanked by leather sofas. Beyond the bar is the full-service restaurant. Rooms got a luxe upgrade in 2006 in bedding, with five pillows per bed and sheet covers on the duvets. All rooms have either an oversize chair that pulls out into a single bed or a sofa bed. Washing machines for guest use stand ready next to the small exercise room.
