Planning a TripGetting There While the standard regional 15 trains a day that wind their scenic way over the mountains can take as long 2 hours (one-way fare 5.90€/$9.40), the super-fast TALGO to Valladolid and Burgos reaches Segovia -- after passing though 33km (22 miles) of new tunnels that cut through the very heart of the Guadarramas -- in a mere 22 minutes! (This rapid, mainly subterranean ride costs around 9€/$14 one-way.) The Segovia station lies on the Paseo Obispo Quesada s/n (tel. 92-142-07-74), a 20-minute walk southeast of the town center. Alternatively, you can board bus no. 3, which departs every quarter-hour for the Plaza Mayor. Ten to 15 buses a day depart from Madrid's new Príncipe Pío underground bus station for Segovia. Las Sepulvedana (tel. 91-538-48-00; www.lasepulvedana.es) operates buses; a one-way ticket costs 6.64€ ($11). The scenic journey takes just over an hour. By car, take the N-VI (on some maps it's known as the A-6) or the Autopista del Nordeste northwest from Madrid, toward León and Lugo. At the junction with Route 110 (signposted SEGOVIA), turn northeast. Visitor Information The tourist information office is at Plaza Mayor 10 (tel. 92-146-03-34). It is open daily from 9am to 3pm and 5 to 7pm.
