Climb down some steep steps to a 14th-century wine cellar to visit La Petite Cave de St-Paul, 7 rue de l'Etoile (tel. 04-93-32-59-54), which stocks an excellent selection of regional wine. Among the shop's most prized wines are bottles from Le Mas Bernard, the winery owned by the Fondation Maeght, which owns only 3 hectares (7 acres) of vineyards west of St-Paul. The wine from Le Mas Bernard is very good and unavailable in the United States because of the small production. Other inventories within this shop include upscale and often esoteric wines from Provence, Les Alpes-Maritimes, and even the vineyards of the Ile St-Honorat, off the coast of Cannes, where an extremely limited production of wine derives from a local monastery.
The village streets are chock-full of expensive boutiques and galleries. The top gallery is the Atelier/Boutique Christian Choisy, 5 rue de la Tour/Ramparts Ouest (tel. 04-93-32-01-80).
