If it's summer, and you want a location right on the beach, head for the coastal strip 12km (7 1/2 miles) south of Valencia at Playa El Saler, one of the best sandy beaches in the area. Open year-round, and built in 1975, this hotel is at its best in the warm months. A golf course is close at hand should you grow bored with the sands. Guest rooms are midsize, and most of them have a midsize balcony overlooking the sea. The junior suites are even better, not only with that large balcony but a separate living room as well. Furnishings are modern but traditional in styling. Well-maintained bathrooms come with tubs and showers. If you don't want to travel far afield for your meals, you'll find good dining on-site, with not only Valencian paella but also an array of regional and international dishes.
