Our Weekly Travel Podcasts: Airline Masks, Charities, and Border Testing

Each week, Frommer's brings you two fresh podcasts stuffed with travel tips, news, and inspiration.

Recordings are made from our weekly call-in show on WABC in New York and our nationally syndicated radio program. Listen anytime at

Masks and Covid-19 test results have become the year's must-have items for travelers. Yet airlines are reportedly not enforcing their own rules mandating masks on flights, and the United States lags behind other countries with regard to testing—which could limit the places where Americans are allowed to enter.

Cohosts Pauline Frommer and Jason Cochran recap the latest developments and field calls from listeners with a range of views on the necessity of the new safety procedures.

The hosts also dispense advice for seeking refunds from hotels, airlines, and tour operators, and provide some options for making charitable donations to those in need.

On our second weekly show, Pauline interviews soulful travel pro Phil Cousineau—author, tour guide, and host of Global Spirit on PBS. Cousineau revisits his searching 1998 book, The Art of Pilgrimage, about the sorts of journeys, sacred and secular alike, that "bring profound meaning."

Cousineau also touches on how travel fulfills the human need to dream and how quarantine gives us a chance to let our spirits regroup in preparation for the pilgrimages ahead.
