Astoria’s newest restaurant occupies a corner of the 1920s-era Carruthers Building in the “urban renaissance” section of downtown Astoria. It has a crisp, upscale ambiance that makes it a special place to try for dinner. Or, better yet, come here for the popular Happy Hour (4–6pm) and enjoy a well-made cocktail and a couple of the small-plate specials served at the bar. The dinner menu is inventive, sometimes breaking culinary rules, like mixing fish with cheese (the scrumptious scallops atop cheese risotto), and mixing influences—curry carrot ginger lime Greek yogurt soup is a mouthful to order, but what a mouthful! If all this is too creative for you, order the juicy burger—it’s so large you may need a hand crank to get your mouth wide enough to eat it.
