31km (19 miles) SE of Naples

In ancient Roman times, this agricultural center for wine, wheat, and olive oil on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius was part of the northern suburbs of Pompeii. Boscoreale today still has farms and vineyards (nearby Boscotrecase is famous for the production of Lacrimae Cristi, the amber-colored D.O.C. Vesuvian wine). Over 30 Roman villas have been found in Boscoreale to date, but only one has been completely excavated.
