There are plenty of places to have a drink in the city and several foreigner-friendly bars. As in other South Korea's cities, most of the action happens in the area near the universities. One of the most popular bars in the Chungdae jungmun (Chungbuk University's main gate) area is Pearl Jam, located on the second floor on Gungmuli-gil. The owner's English isn't great, but most of the staff speak it pretty well. The bar has all-you-can-drink specials on Friday and Saturday nights (which is cheaper for women than for men). Open from around 6pm to the wee hours, they often have live music on weekends. The Attic, located on the third floor, has a small dance floor and a pool table and has more of an intimate club feeling.
