Cohills Inn
This welcoming downtown Lubec anchor is just steps from the harbor, with knockout water views from six of the nine comfy, if simply furnished rooms. All have country quilts, TVs, minifridges and either a king or a queen bed (only the East Quoddy room has two beds, in queen size). The pub downstairs is a lively community hub and a fun place to rub shoulders with Lubeckers (it has a superb whiskey selection)—it closes early, this being Downeast Maine, so the bar crowd won't keep you up. Be prepared to carry your luggage up one or two flights of stairs. Note: Sadly, the inn was for sale as we went to press, so décor and pricing could be changing.
