Planning a trip to Guadalupe
It’s not easy getting to Guadalupe, but that’s the point—many pilgrims make the journey on foot.
There are just two buses a day from Madrid (trip time 4 hr.; cost 22€) operated by Samar (tel. 90-225-70-25), and a couple of buses from Trujillo (1.5 hr.; 9€) and Caceres (2.5 hr.; 14€), operated by Alsa (tel. 90-242-22-42). Buses arrive next to the town hall (ayuntamiento) from where it is a short walk downhill to Plaza de Santa María and the monastery.
By car from Madrid, follow the A-5 west to exit 171 at Navalmoral de la Mata and then south on the EX-118 to Guadalupe. The drive takes around 3 hours.
The tourist office on Plaza de Santa María (tel. 92-715-41-28) is open 10am–2pm and 4–8pm Thursday to Monday.
