Things To Do in Guadalupe
Guadalupe Attractions
Plaza de Santa María (also called Plaza Mayor) is the hub of the village, lying at the base of the steps to the monastery’s basilica. Before you go anywhere, pause to contemplate the magnificent structure from a café terrace. You can pick up a sheet from the tourist office detailing a self-guided tour of the village’s antique streets, including the old Jewish quarter, picturesque porticoed houses, and the home of Gil Cordero, the farmer who discovered the statue of the Virgin. But you should devote most of your time to the reason everyone comes here—the historic monastery and its famous inhabitant.
Guadalupe Shopping
Except for a handful of your basic souvenir shops around the Plaza Mayor, don't expect to find a lot of particularly interesting shopping in Guadalupe.
