Just off the Ring of Kerry route (R765) on Valentia Island, this well-designed information center blends right into the terrain, its stark stone facade framed by grassy mounds based on the design of ancient archaeological sites. A series of displays tell the story of the lives of the monks who once existed in near total isolation on Skellig Rocks, Skellig Michael, and Little Skellig. There's a section on the geology of the area and an informative bit on the seabirds that are now the islands' main inhabitants. Finally, you can take a (pricey) boat tour around the islands.
