One of the first hotels in Ixtapa, the Krystal is definitely showing its age. Your sliding balcony door may stick, and there might be scuff marks on the stucco walls. The décor could be dubbed "Late '80s Motel". That being said, it shares the same white sand beach as much pricier hotels and for a third the nightly rate (usually). Its clientele is about half Mexican, which will make you feel like you're actually in Mexico—not easy to do in this tourist zone. And the pool area, restaurants, spa and gym are all modern and well-maintained. Overall, the Krystal is likely the best beachfront value in Ixtapa.
