True escapists of civilization have the option of lodging out on the Çukurbag Peninsula (by car, enter Kas's main road and turn right at the small roundabout right before the marina; all destinations on the loop road are under 5km/3 miles away), a sparsely populated collection of steep cliffs and terraced access to unspoiled waters. (Most of these hotels have been snapped up and blocked out by British-based tour operators, leaving but a handful of options for the independent traveler.) But without a car, it's undeniably more convenient to be located in the town center.
