Hotel Real Colegiata de San Isidoro
If the Romanesque church and pantheon of the kings of León (p. ###) really captures your imagination, you can spend the night in the hotel within the Augustinian monastery complex. After walking past a lovely fountain in the majestic courtyard, you’ll find yourself surrounded by antique furnishings and glittering chandeliers in sumptuous common areas. The rooms are less over the top—in fact, some are downright tight, rented at accordingly low prices as “monastic” single rooms. Standard and “superior” doubles are quite spacious, though, and each room has a window to the central courtyard cut through the deep stone walls. Think of it as a “night at the museum.”
