Automatic Slim’s Tonga Club

This funky club is a fun place for a drink or late-night bite of coconut shrimp or jerk chicken. The name “Automatic Slim” comes from an old blues song, and the “Tonga Club” part of the name comes from a local teen hangout in the early 1960s. Artists from New York and Memphis created the decor, including zebra-print upholstered banquettes, slag-glass wall sconces, and colorfully upholstered bar stools. Weekend brunch includes all manner of absurdity including a 100-oz. “mimosa bong” and waffles that come in varieties from Oreo to s’more.
