April, August through October, and the Christmas holidays constitute high season in Merano, when rates are most expensive and rooms are scarce. The two hotels in the center of town are easy enough to find; for the Castel Rundegg and Hotel Castello Schloss Labers, follow the yellow arrows on alberghi road signs (Merano has a complicated color-coded, geographical breakdown for all its hotels; just trust me and follow the yellow arrows) until a small brown-on-white sign for the hotels tells you otherwise.
