Perhaps the most popular after-dark activities in Monteverde are night hikes in one of the reserves. However, if you want a taste of the local party scene, head to Bar Amigos (tel. 2645-5071), a large and often loud bar in the heart of Santa Elena. You’ll find a bunch of flatscreen TVs showing sporting events, a couple of pool tables, and occasional live bands. There’s also the tap room beneath The Open Kitchen, which has a brewpub vibe and attracts a mix of locals and tourists.
