Hotel Santa Isabel
There’s an old European tradition that travelers may spend the night unmolested within the shadow of the church. While this delightful B&B inn is not quite as cheap as the cathedral doorway, it’s not far from the church and a whole lot more comfortable. It occupies a medieval building across from the Convent of Santa Isabel and near the cathedral. Some guest rooms, in fact, have cathedral views, while the rooftop terrace (reached by a spiral staircase) has panoramic city views. The building became a lodging in 1990, and careful restoration retained the ancient facade while creating a more fresh and airy modern interior. Guest rooms are small but well maintained. Room 215, with a glassed-in balcony, is perhaps the nicest.
