Planning a trip to Zaragoza
Zaragoza’s airport (ZAZ) has limited service via Ryanair (London, Paris, Milan, and Brussels), Wizz Air (Eastern Europe), Vueling (Mallorca) and Binter Canarias (Canary Islands).
The city is so well-connected by train that it no longer has commercial domestic flights. Approximately 30 trains arrive daily from Barcelona (trip time 1.5–5.25 hrs) and around 23 from Madrid (trip time 1.25–3.5 hr.). Trains pull into Estación Zaragoza-Delicias, Calle Rioja, 33 (tel. 90-232-03-20), west of the city center. All but a few trains per day are high-speed rail.
There are also 9 direct buses a day between Zaragoza and Barcelona (trip time 4 hr.) and 18 direct buses from Madrid (trip time 3.5 hr.).
By car, Zaragoza is easily reached on the E-90 (A-2) east from Madrid or west from Barcelona.
The tourist office, Plaza del Pilar, s/n (tel. 97-620-12-00), is open daily 10am‒8pm. It’s closed December 25 and January 1.
One of the city’s big festivities is the Fiesta de la Virgen del Pilar, held in early October, with top-name bullfighters, religious processions, and general merriment.
