Hotel Hacienda Posada de Vallina ReviewFacing the south wall of the Mezquita, this restaurant is built on foundations that are among the oldest in Córdoba, with a history going back some 16 centuries. From a much later date are remnants of Roman columns and an old wall. The restaurant itself is in the inner courtyard of a little hotel below the balconies and gallery of the second floor. The chef proudly calls his food la cocina cordobesa, and so it is. Delicious treats appear on the menu, like salmorejo (cold tomato soup) or artichokes vinaigrette. We also recommend the fresh baked hake served in a sauce made with clams and shrimp, and the savory oxtail. Desserts are homemade. Most main courses are priced at the lower end of the scale. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
