Parador de Córdoba ReviewFound inconveniently 4km (2 1/2 miles) outside of town in a suburb called El Brillante, this parador, named after an Arab word meaning "palm grove," offers the conveniences and facilities of a luxurious resort hotel at reasonable rates. Occupying the site of a former Caliphate palace, it's one of the finest paradors in Spain. Its most recent feature is a garden, Los Naranjos (the orange trees), where the first palm trees planted in Europe can be found. The spacious guest rooms have been furnished with fine dark-wood pieces, and some have balconies for eating breakfast or relaxing over a drink. The dining room offers two classic Andalusian soups, both served cold. Try either salmorejo cordobés (vegetable soup) or gazpacho blanco de almendras (almond soup). To follow, try the delectable steak in green sauce. Facilities: Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. Please be sure to confirm all rates and details directly with the companies in question before planning your trip. Related Features

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
