Frommer's Review
Found inconveniently 4km (2 1/2 miles) outside of town in a suburb called El Brillante, this parador, named after an Arab word meaning "palm grove," offers the conveniences and facilities of a luxurious resort hotel at reasonable rates. Occupying the site of a former caliphate palace, it's one of the finest paradors in Spain. Its most recent feature is a garden, Los Naranjos (the orange trees), where the first palm trees planted in Europe can be found. The spacious guest rooms have been furnished with fine dark-wood pieces, and some have balconies for eating breakfast or relaxing over a drink. All have bathrooms with tub/shower combos. The dining room offers two classic Andalusian soups, both served cold. Try either salmorejo cordobés (vegetable soup) or gazpacho blanco de almendras (almond soup). To follow, try the delectable steak in green sauce.
