Frommer's Review
Making up for the lack of a Ritz-y resort on Marco Island is this posh, all-suite place with a full-service spa. The suites are definitely comfortable, complete with full kitchens and patios overlooking the Gulf. New additions include bigger TVs, custom-made dressers, and fresh orchids to liven things up. Bathrooms are large and have delicious Molton Brown bath products. Although the marble lobby is mausoleumlike with little or no activity, it is a sight to see. After a recent $1-million renovation to landscaping, suites, and other areas, the owners decided to add a new lobby seating area, so you can actually sit and enjoy the scenery. I'm happy to report that ever since we criticized the hotel's strict dress code, management wisened up and got rid of it! Neither golf nor tennis courts are on the premises, but the concierge can arrange both at nearby clubs. While the pool has private cabanas and great butlers, the beach and its beach butlers are what really matter. There's also a rooftop pool where you can now enjoy upper-body massages in massage chairs, and experience poolside chic in cabanas that can be rented complete with butler service, minifridges, and Internet access. Pristine and private, the Marco Beach Ocean Resort provides beach service all day long.
