Le Parker Meridien Review

Consider the many attributes of this hotel: Its location on 57th Street is not too far from Times Square and a short walk from Central Park and Fifth Avenue shopping; there's a 17,000-square-foot fitness center, Gravity, featuring basketball and racquetball courts, a spa, and a rooftop pool; three excellent restaurants, including Norma's, for breakfast, and the aptly named Burger Joint, rated by many as the best burger in the city; a gorgeous lobby that also serves as a public space off where Knave, the hotel's excellent espresso bar is located, and elevators with TVs that show Tom and Jerry and Charlie Chaplin shorts. The spacious rooms, though a bit on the IKEA side, have a fun feel, with hidden drawers and twirling television platforms, making an economical use of space. Many have fantastic Central Park views. Rooms have wood platform frames with feather beds, built-ins that include large work desks, and Aeron chairs; the bathrooms are large but come with shower only.

Facilities:
3 restaurants; espresso/cocktail bar; concierge (2 w/Clefs d'Or distinction); fitness center and spa w/Wii studio; rooftop pool; room service; sun deck

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
