Frommer's Review
The atmosphere in this 1902 landmark is so steeped in writers' lore that you'll feel guilty turning on the television instead of reading the latest issue of the New Yorker that's provided in the guest rooms. Rooms can be cramped, but they are equipped with possibly the most comfortable beds in the city as well as 21st-century technology such as high-speed Internet and flatscreen TVs. If you have a tendency toward claustrophobia, head to the plush lobby, where you can sit and sip exquisite (and expensive) cocktails, have a snack, or just read or play on your laptop (the lobby is Wi-Fi-equipped). For a splurge, stay in one of the roomy one-bedroom suites, where all that is missing to get you going on that novel is a manual Smith Corona typewriter.
Meals are served in the Round Table Room, while the fabulous Oak Room is one of the city's top cabaret rooms, featuring such talents as Andrea Marcovicci and Julie Wilson.
Facilities:
2 restaurants; lounge; bar; concierge; exercise room; room service

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
