Frommer's Review
Take the elevator to the seventh floor to the ultramodern, loungelike lobby to check in, where the only way to distinguish employees from guests is the tiny "W" pin they (the employees!) wear. Otherwise, everyone is dressed in the dark tones of Kenneth Cole-designed "urban" attire. The lobby bar always seems to be busy -- or maybe that's just the lounge music that plays continuously throughout all the hotel's public spaces. Most rooms boast magnificent views of the neon spectacle of Times Square, but double-paned windows keep the rooms surprisingly quiet. Standard rooms are roomy enough, with a big Plexiglas desk, mirrors everywhere, a 27-inch TV, and the Westin Heavenly Bed. Bathrooms in the standard rooms are small and a bit clumsy, featuring a semi-open shower stall and a huge sink that takes up what little counter space there is. Suites are similarly designed and will get you an extra bathroom and a flatscreen TV.

Restaurant; 2 bars; concierge; fitness center & spa; room service

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
