While Dylan's is the new generation of candy store, Economy Candy, which has been selling its sweet wares since 1937, in the gentrified Lower East Side across the street from the gleaming Hotel on Rivington, is a blast from the past. Here, if you are somewhat aged like your author, you will recognize treats from your childhood like Hot Tamales, Bit O'Honey candy, Kosher rock candy, Atomic Fireballs, and Necco Wafers. You'll also find a fine selection of dried fruits and nuts and gourmet chocolate here. A trip to Economy Candy is definitely a trip back in time and worth taking.
