Ventorillo de la Perra ReviewIf you'd like to eat at a good restaurant while visiting Tivoli World, try this old inn from 1785, one of the oldest restaurants we've found along the Costa del Sol. In this theme park where everything looks as if it were built in 1972 out of concrete, this is a nostalgic journey back to Andalusia of the 1800s. It's the way the Costa del Sol used to be before the invading hordes conquered it. You can eat on a shaded patio, ideal on a summer day, or head for the intimate dining room with its cozy bar. Andalusian cured hams hang from the ceiling. You may think you know what gazpacho is until you order gazpacuelo malagueño, which is actually served warm. It's a combination of both rice and potatoes, enlivened with fresh shrimp. Another typical soup specialty is ajo blanco, a cold almond soup, heavy on the garlic. Almonds appear again in a sauce with your order of rabbit (conejo). Lamb appears frequently on the menu as does fresh fish based on the day's catch. What's the catch here? The food is good but the staff seems to go out of their way to be unhelpful. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
