El Tiburón ReviewConstructed 60m (196 ft.) from La Carihuela beach in 1963, this medium-size hotel is one of the most affordable accommodations in the area to the immediate west of Torremolinos, and many of its devotees book rooms here year after year. It looks like an inviting, overgrown Mediterranean seaside house, with a beautiful terrace overlooking the water and the shade of palm trees. Life revolves around a central patio in the classic Andalusian style. The small to midsize bedrooms are traditionally and comfortably furnished. Things tend to be sterile, not lavish, but it's so affordable you don't expect too much. Some 32 of the bedrooms open onto their own private terraces, and some of the accommodations are suitable for triple use. There is no restaurant, but some excellent seafood eateries are only minutes from your doorstep. Facilities: Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
