Frommer's Review
What is sorely missing in most hotels in Benalmádena and Torremolinos is an inn with true Andalusian flavor. La Fonda succeeds in filling in that gap, lying in an attractive building on one of the more charming streets in a village without many other grace notes. The hotel bills itself as an oasis of tranquillity, and so it is.
The main building itself is filled with plants, regional artifacts, and local furnishings, and is built in the typically Mediterranean villa style, whitewashed and studded with little balconies. The hotel also rents studios and apartments, which are distributed throughout four small buildings 50m to 180m (164-590 ft.) from the main inn itself. These are more impersonal and furnished in a comfortable though somewhat generic international style. In all, there are 11 studios, 20 one-bedroom apartments, and eight two-bedroom apartments, each with a private bathroom with a tub/shower combo. Each unit comes with marble floors, flowery fabrics, and whitewashed walls. Many open onto views of the sea while others front an interior and typically Andalusian courtyard. The on-site pool is heated in winter.
Under different management but in the same building is a restaurant that's the training ground for the official hotel and catering school based in Málaga. You can check it out for lunch only, Monday to Friday.
