Frommer's Review
The parador is still the number-one place to stay in Ubeda, but this hotel gives it serious competition. In a beautifully restored and once-decaying palace, the three-story hotel is in the center of the historic district. Much of the past, including stone vaulted ceilings downstairs, was retained by the modern architects. The hotel opens onto a marble-columned atrium in which chairs are placed in the center, with a skylight overhead. Wherever you look you'll find grace notes such as hand-carved wooden doors and marble arches over stairwells. In contrast, the bedrooms are thoroughly modernized, ranging from rather cramped to spacious suites. We prefer the rooms with terraces or balconies, which need to be booked well in advance. Each room comes with a small bathroom covered in Andalusian tiles and equipped with tub and shower. Try to have at least one dinner at the restaurant, enjoying not only its fine Andalusian cuisine but also its mellow ambience, particularly inviting at night.
Facilities:
Cafeteria; lap pool; room service; laundry service; rooms for those w/limited mobility

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
