One of Zaragoza's most consistently reliable restaurants occupies a 1970s building that sits in the heart of the city's busiest commercial zone, a short walk from El Corte Inglés Department store and lots of other shops and boutiques. Within a pair of wood-paneled, red-toned dining rooms, you'll rub elbows with a busy workaday crowd of Spaniards, some of whom memorized the menu long ago and simply tell the waiters what they feel like eating that day. The best items include fresh fish, pork, veal, and beefsteaks, as well as a popular version of roasted suckling lamb prepared with herbs, vegetables, and drippings. Merluza Risko Mar (house-style hake served with fresh clams, baby eels, and green sauce) is a justifiably celebrated house specialty.
