One of downtown’s longest standing fine-dining restaurants, Flight’s format belies its quality. Self-proclaimed “foodies” may read the three-of-everything format as a gimmick, but even if it is, it’s a gimmick that delivers. Choose trios of any course—appetizers, salads, entrees, desserts, wines. A Seafood Flight might include lobster tail, crab cakes, and shrimp scampi, all artfully plated and served side-by-side on rectangular white plates. The Soup Flight is always a good call with seafood gumbo, lobster bisque, and the soup of the day. Go with a group and pass plates around to sample dozens of delicious dishes, or order a flight for tasting and then order a full portion of the ones you like. Extremely attentive service and a posh, two-tier dining room make Flight a perfect place to impress a date downtown. While they don’t have a second location, per se, the owners of Flight also own Porch & Parlor in Overton Square, which serves many of the same dishes (albeit not in flights) to locals who love to dine and drink on their open-air patio.
