I have a single girlfriend who comes here whenever she’s feeling blue. She claims the sheep’s-milk ricotta crostini is a picker-upper like no other. But the real reason may be she always gets picked up here. Darkly lit, with plush leather booths, a handsome Art Deco–ish décor, and a bar populated by eligible bachelors, Locanda Verde completes the neat trick of making Grandma’s cooking seem as sexy as George Clooney. That’s due to chef Andrew Carmellini (also of The Dutch, see our recommendation for that restaurant on this site), who must have had quite the talented ancestors if the recipe for “My Grandmother’s Ravioli” was actually passed down to him. Fabulous food and that handsome decor make this the perfect date place.
