Trujillo’s dining scene has traditionally been hearty rather than sophisticated, built around grilled meats and heavy casseroles. But tastes are changing, influenced no doubt by the food culture emanating from Cáceres up the road. It’s tempting to head straight for a table on beautiful Plaza Mayor, but the quality and service there can be hit-or-miss. You’ll generally do much better if you seek out dining options on the streets surrounding the main square.
